וְכִֽי־יִשְׁאַ֥ל אִ֛ישׁ מֵעִ֥ם רֵעֵ֖הוּ וְנִשְׁבַּ֣ר אוֹ־מֵ֑ת בְּעָלָ֥יו אֵין־עִמּ֖וֹ שַׁלֵּ֥ם יְשַׁלֵּֽם׃
Wenn jemand von seinem Nächsten [ein Tier] borgt, und es wird zerrissen oder es stirbt, so muß, war der Eigentümer nicht bei ihm, [der Entleiher] bezahlen.
Targum Jonathan on Exodus
And if a man borrow anything of his neighbour, and the vessel be broken, or the animal die, and the owner be not with it, lie shall certainly make it good.
