Tafsiran Amos 3:3: Rashi & Tze'enah Ure'enah

Rashi

Will two walk together—Concerning what you say to the prophets, “Do not prophesy,” do the prophets prophesy from their own mind unless they were commanded? Are things done in any way but in their customary fashion?

unless they agree—Unless they made an appointment to go together to such and such a place.

Tze'enah Ure'enah

“Can two walk together without having met?” [3:3]. Therefore, because you committed transgressions, nobody will be able to leave the city because of the enemy. Even two should not prepare together in the expectation that they will oppose the enemy if he should encounter them.
