Tafsiran Yeremia 2:26: Tze'enah Ure'enah & Rashi

Seperti malunya seorang pencuri apabila ia kedapatan, demikianlah kaum keturunan Israel menanggung malu: mereka, raja-raja mereka, para pemuka mereka, para imam mereka, dan para nabi mereka.

Tze'enah Ure'enah

“Like a thief chagrined when he is caught, etc.” [2:26]. Israel is shamed, just like a person who was considered trustworthy and became a thief. He is very embarrassed because previously he was not considered to be a thief. However, when someone has been a thief for a long time, he is not embarrassed at all when he is discovered in the midst of a theft. Israel has been embarrassed like a thief. Previously, her kings, nobles, priests and prophets should have been embarrassed since they were considered to be pious, since they observed the commandments, but they worshipped foreign gods.6Radak, Jeremiah, 2:26.
