וְהַנִּשְׁאָרִ֣ים בָּכֶ֗ם יִמַּ֙קּוּ֙ בַּֽעֲוֺנָ֔ם בְּאַרְצֹ֖ת אֹיְבֵיכֶ֑ם וְאַ֛ף בַּעֲוֺנֹ֥ת אֲבֹתָ֖ם אִתָּ֥ם יִמָּֽקּוּ׃
Adapun orang-orang yang masih tersisa di antara kamu akan merana karena kesalahan mereka di negeri-negeri musuh-musuhmu; bahkan karena kesalahan-kesalahan nenek moyang mereka yang ada pada mereka, mereka pun akan merana.

נמקו – to be rotted and decayed, such as (Leviticus 26:39): “they shall be heartsick [over the iniquities of their fathers].”

a sign from God , reminding you of your rebellion against Him. Not only shall the sign be against you, but it shall also be against your descendants (as in “our fathers have sinned, and are no more…” [Lamentations 5: 7]), as I have elsewhere mentioned [cf. comment on Leviticus 26: 39].
