וַיִּשְׂטֹ֤ם עֵשָׂו֙ אֶֽת־יַעֲקֹ֔ב עַל־הַ֨בְּרָכָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר בֵּרֲכ֖וֹ אָבִ֑יו וַיֹּ֨אמֶר עֵשָׂ֜ו בְּלִבּ֗וֹ יִקְרְבוּ֙ יְמֵי֙ אֵ֣בֶל אָבִ֔י וְאַֽהַרְגָ֖ה אֶת־יַעֲקֹ֥ב אָחִֽי׃
Esau menyimpan dendam terhadap Yakub karena berkat yang diberikan ayahnya kepada Yakub. Esau berkata dalam hatinya, “Masa berkabung untuk ayahku sudah dekat; saat itulah aku akan membunuh Yakub, adikku.”
