כִּֽי־נִחַ֨ם יְהוָ֜ה צִיּ֗וֹן נִחַם֙ כָּל־חָרְבֹתֶ֔יהָ וַיָּ֤שֶׂם מִדְבָּרָהּ֙ כְּעֵ֔דֶן וְעַרְבָתָ֖הּ כְּגַן־יְהוָ֑ה שָׂשׂ֤וֹן וְשִׂמְחָה֙ יִמָּ֣צֵא בָ֔הּ תּוֹדָ֖ה וְק֥וֹל זִמְרָֽה׃ (ס)
Poiché l'Eterno ha confortato Sion; Ha confortato tutti i suoi luoghi desolati, e ha reso la sua terra selvaggia come l'Eden, e il suo deserto come il giardino dell'Eterno; In essa si troveranno gioia e letizia, il Ringraziamento e la voce della melodia.
Rashi on Isaiah
and its wasteland Heb. וְעַרְבָתָהּ. This too is an expression of a desert. Comp. (Jer. 2:6) “In a wasteland (עֲרָבָה) and a land of pits,” but the wasteland once had a settlement and it was destroyed.

Ibn Ezra on Isaiah
The Lord shall comfort Zion, etc. Thus the connection of this verse with the preceding one is explained. He hath comforted all her waste places, by the multitude of her children, of her inhabitants.
