מֵעַ֣י ׀ מֵעַ֨י ׀ אחולה [אוֹחִ֜ילָה] קִיר֥וֹת לִבִּ֛י הֹֽמֶה־לִּ֥י לִבִּ֖י לֹ֣א אַחֲרִ֑ישׁ כִּ֣י ק֤וֹל שׁוֹפָר֙ שמעתי [שָׁמַ֣עַתְּ] נַפְשִׁ֔י תְּרוּעַ֖ת מִלְחָמָֽה׃
Le mie viscere, le mie viscere! Scrivo per il dolore! Le camere del mio cuore! Il mio cuore geme dentro di me! Non riesco a trattenere la pace! Perché hai sentito, anima mia, il suono del corno, L'allarme della guerra.
