22. In the matter of the aforementioned union, the reader must know that, aside from Ḥokhmah and Binah, which are called “Husband” and “Wife,” “Father” and “Mother,” and [whose union] is similar to physical union and mating, there is not to be found [union] between male and female except through the intermediation of the covenant of pudenda.10The generative power of human beings is thought of as an earthly counterpart to the acts of sefirotic generation described. Thus on high these two qualities [Ḥokhmah and Binah] unite in the mystery of the primordial Da’at,11Thus Da’at is an intermediary factor between Ḥokhmah and Binah. which is in the middle between “Father” and “Mother.” Its existence is in the path which the bird of prey does not know (Job 28:7). The result of this union is the existence and renewal of the sefirot, which are continually renewed through their root, which is sunk in the depths of Binah and Ḥokhmah and also continues in the mystery of the soul, which is from Binah. This will be explained in the Tikkunim, with God’s help.12I have been unable to identify the source in Tikkunei Zohar. Likewise the crown with which the Mother crowned the children on the day of their wedding comes [from this], as it is written, Go out and see, O daughters of Zion (Song of Songs 3:11). However, all union requires an arousal from below, and the arousal of Binah [stems] from Malkhut, as Rabbi Simeon bar Yoḥai, peace upon him, explained.

Zohar

The first commandment is read: "I" - [it comes] from the side of Keter, that is Ey"n from "Eloheynu". In "I" [Anochi] there is Kaf, Keter; and there is Eyn. And Keter comes from the side of the Upper Mother, that is mentioned corresponding to the 50 times the Exodus is [mentioned] in Torah. And the Bet from Bereshit includes the Ten Sayings from the side of Chochmah/Wisdom the daughter of 10 since "the earth is established through Wisdom" (Proverbs 3:19). In the Father is established choice, and this is "the way is not known by the falcon" (Job 28:7), that includes the 32 ways, which are the 32 Elohim from the side of the Upper Mother which are called Kavod. And therefore it is included in Choice, which is called 32/Lev/Heart. And accordingly, there is Kavod to the Higher, and 32/Lev/Heart to the Lower.
