יֵשְׁב֨וּ לָאָ֤רֶץ יִדְּמוּ֙ זִקְנֵ֣י בַת־צִיּ֔וֹן הֶֽעֱל֤וּ עָפָר֙ עַל־רֹאשָׁ֔ם חָגְר֖וּ שַׂקִּ֑ים הוֹרִ֤ידוּ לָאָ֙רֶץ֙ רֹאשָׁ֔ן בְּתוּלֹ֖ת יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ (ס)
Si siedono per terra e mantengono il silenzio, gli anziani della figlia di Sion; Si sono gettati polvere sulla testa, si sono cinti di tela di sacco; Le vergini di Gerusalemme pendono le loro teste a terra.
Aramaic Targum to Lamentations
The Elders of the Congregation of Zion sit on the ground in silence. They throw woodashes upon their heads. They gird sackcloth upon their bodies. The virgins of Jerusalem bow their heads to the dust of the earth.
