Shall there be an altar, etc. The explanation of the Midrash is known, that the altar refers to the slaughter of the Egyptians;²⁵This is not mentioned in Yalkut, nor is any allusion made to it by Rashi or Targum. but the verse can be explained literally.²⁶Some take it literally, and point for the fulfilment of this prophecy to the altar built in Egypt by Onias. See Menachoth, 109 b.; Josephus Antiq., XII. 11:7. Comp. And they will worship with sacrifice and meat-offering (ver. 21)
