If you are unable to concentrate on the meaning of the words, at the very minimum, while praying, you should think about matters that humble the heart and direct your thoughts towards your Father in heaven. Should a profane thought enter your mind in the midst of the [Amidah] prayer, you should be silent [cease praying] and wait until the thought vanishes.
