The Third Beit HaMikdash
This balcony was built at the top of the outer wall of the courtyard. Its floor was the same height as the top of the gates, i.e., 50 cubits, as stated in sec. 3 above. Wherever there was a gate in the wall, the balcony would be interrupted by the gate. This is implied by the verse,17Ibid. “The balcony was on the side18Literally, “on the shoulder.” of the gates,” i.e., at their side, and not above them. The balcony was also interrupted by the space above the open chambers that will, with God’s help, soon be described.19See sec. 13-16.
