וּצְפִ֥יר הָעִזִּ֖ים הִגְדִּ֣יל עַד־מְאֹ֑ד וּכְעָצְמ֗וֹ נִשְׁבְּרָה֙ הַקֶּ֣רֶן הַגְּדוֹלָ֔ה וַֽתַּעֲלֶ֜נָה חָז֤וּת אַרְבַּע֙ תַּחְתֶּ֔יהָ לְאַרְבַּ֖ע רוּח֥וֹת הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃
수염소가 스스로 심히 강대하여 가더니 강성할 때에 그 큰 뿔이 꺾이고 그 대신에 현저한 뿔 넷이 하늘 사방을 향하여 났더라

The he-goat, [so] great was its might,17This stanza refers to the Greek persecution, and the Jewish victory through the Hasmoneans. that the (vision of the) four [horns]18See Daniel 8:8. ascended to His ennobled ones?19Ibid. In their hearts they intended to destroy His cherished ones; [but] through His priests20This refers to the Hasmoneans, who were kohanim, descendants of Aaron. He destroyed those who rose against Him. “The kindlinesses of Adonoy have never ended, for His mercies are inexhaustible.”21Lamentations 3:23.
