וְעַתָּ֗ה כִּבְשַׂ֤ר אַחֵ֙ינוּ֙ בְּשָׂרֵ֔נוּ כִּבְנֵיהֶ֖ם בָּנֵ֑ינוּ וְהִנֵּ֣ה אֲנַ֣חְנוּ כֹ֠בְשִׁים אֶת־בָּנֵ֨ינוּ וְאֶת־בְּנֹתֵ֜ינוּ לַעֲבָדִ֗ים וְיֵ֨שׁ מִבְּנֹתֵ֤ינוּ נִכְבָּשׁוֹת֙ וְאֵ֣ין לְאֵ֣ל יָדֵ֔נוּ וּשְׂדֹתֵ֥ינוּ וּכְרָמֵ֖ינוּ לַאֲחֵרִֽים׃
Lecz teraz nasze ciało jest jak ciało naszych braci, nasze dzieci jak ich dzieci; a oto, w niewolę sprowadzamy naszych synów i córki, abyśmy byli sługami, a niektóre nasze córki są już w niewoli; nie jest też w naszej mocy, aby mu pomóc; albowiem inni mają pola i winnice nasze.'
