Komentaryo sa Ester 7:10: Tze'enah Ure'enah

Tze'enah Ure'enah

“And they hanged Haman” [7:10]. They hanged Haman on the gallows that he had made for Mordecai and the king gave Haman’s house to Mordecai and to Esther. Mordecai came before the king and Esther told him that he was her relative. Here one asks a question: Why did Scripture have to say, “on that day” [8:1], that is it was given on the same day? The answer is that it teaches us that the Holy One pays each person with the measure of what he does. Haman had commanded that the Jews should be killed, heaven forbid, and their money should be stolen in one day. Thus, the Holy One caused the same to happen to Haman. He was hanged and his house was stolen in one day.
