And the reason why this eighth day took ten crowns, is a hint to what our Sages said (Arakhin 13b) that the harp of the Messianic era will have eight strings, and that of the World to Come will have ten strings. This is because in the Messianic era the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see together (Isaiah 40:5) that the Lord is One, riding upon the seven planets that govern this world. But in the World to Come, when people will be completely stripped of materiality, their comprehension will increase as they recognize His blessed sovereignty over all the higher separated beings, which are included in the number nine, in the secret of the Ark was nine [cubits] and the cover was a handbreadth [referring to the dimensions of the Ark of the Covenant]. And then the eighth will rise to the number ten. Therefore, the hint comes on this eighth day that took ten crowns, to say that it contains an element of the World to Come, for there they will see the glory of the Lord eye to eye, and similarly on this day it is said for today the Lord will appear to You.

On the level of allusion [remez], it is possible to explain that eye [ayin, which is also a letter with a numerical value of 70] to eye refers to that which trough the merit that Israel received the Torah, which is expounded in seventy facets, they merited the eye of the Lord is toward those who fear Him (Psalms 33:18). And this is the interpretation of the verse (Isaiah 52:8) For eye to eye they shall see when the Lord returns to Zion. As our Sages of blessed memory said (Eruvin 65a), “When wine enters, secrets come out.” Wine is [numerically] seventy and secret is [numerically] seventy, because redemption is “the secret of the Lord to those who fear Him,” as it is written (Daniel 12:9), For the matters are closed and sealed. And when the wine of Torah, which has seventy facets, enters Israel, then the secret of redemption will come out and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed (Isaiah 40:5). This is what it means when it says, For eye — the redemption which is a secret — with eye — in the merit of the wine of Torah — they shall see when the Lord returns to Zion. And this is easily understood.

The Holy One said to Moses. “You cannot see My face” [33:20]. That is to say, be warned in the cave where you will be, that you should not look at Me. No person who sees Me can remain alive. Yalkut writes a story that happened to Andrinus Caesar, who asked Rabbi Joshua. When you say that the Holy One created heaven and earth, why does the Holy One not appear twice a year so that the people should fear Him. Rabbi Joshua responded: the people cannot see Him; whoever sees Him must die. When it was midday and the sun shone brightly, Rabbi Joshua called to Caesar, look at the sun and you will see the Holy One. Caesar responded: how is it possible to look at the sun? Rabbi Joshua responded: when you cannot look at the servant of the Holy One, how do you want to look at the Holy One Himself? He is pure fire and a great light. When the Holy One will appear to the people? In the days of the Messiah, who will destroy the nations of the world, as the verse says, “the Presence of the Lord will appear” [Isaiah, 40:5]. Also, each person will see the Holy One when his soul leaves his body.63Yalkut Shimoni, Ki Tisa, Remez, 396.
