Komentaryo sa Isaias 61:11: Tze'enah Ure'enah & Ibn Ezra

Tze'enah Ure'enah

“For as the earth breaks forth her shoots, etc.” [61:11]. The prophet compared the redemption to a seed that one throws into the earth, so that it should grow. The person sometimes despairs that it will be lost in the earth. So too are Israel. They were dispersed and lost in the exile for many years and when the redemption will come, they will be like something that one sows and grows. So will Israel be in the days of the Messiah, like a garden that one sows. Similarly, God will cause righteousness and love to grow before all the nations.1Radak, Isaiah, 61:11.

Ibn Ezra

Like the earth which bringeth forth.12A. V., As the earth bringeth forth, etc.
13 I. E. explains the expression צמח, to grow, used here of righteousness, in a figurative sense. Righteousness will, as it were, grow in the estimation of man, so that all will endeavour to become righteous, and to perform righteous deeds.
So the Lord will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth. Righteousness and praise will increase, as though they grew.
